I’m a therapist who values honesty, reflection, and meaningful change. I go beyond surface-level work, helping you understand the patterns, beliefs, and experiences that shape how you show up in your life. My approach is supportive yet direct. I’ll help you identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck—like perfectionism, people-pleasing, or self-criticism—while creating a space where you feel respected and not judged.

Hi, Are you the ‘good’ daughter/son, the ‘good’ wife/husband, or the ‘good’ mother/father? Does your life look amazing from the outside but feels less than okay on the inside? It’s important that you have the support of someone who sees and understands you and who can respond to what you are going through. I want to help you discover why you are feeling the way you are, and more importantly, teach you the tools to help move you away from suffering, and towards inner peace. As your therapist I will be beside you every step of the way. Together we will navigate towards the joy, happiness, and self-acceptance you deserve. I specialize in brain-based therapies, such as Brainspotting; these specific modalities of treatment focus on the neurobiological variables (neuro networks) of each person to create change, specifically - neuro experiential change. Because understanding the why of behavior is not enough, for new behavior to be created new neural pathways need to be formed. I'm a bilingual in Spanish clinician with 20+ years of experience working in mental health with extensive training and credentials. However, I believe that you are the expert in your own inner world, and I am here to be a safe, grounding, and validating companion. “Nothing could ever be broken that we can't fix together" - Mirabel from Encanto

College life can be HARD. Whether you are dealing with depression, anxiety, stress, new life adjustments, or struggling with the unique challenges of college life, we all need support sometimes. I believe that all people have the power within themselves to strive towards positive growth and change when provided with a safe, accepting environment. My approach to counseling focuses on facilitating a strong therapeutic relationship grounded in empathy, genuineness, and unconditional acceptance. I see my clients as collaborative partners, and together we work towards meeting their goals. I specialize in several therapy approaches, and work hard to integrate self exploration, learning new skills and coping techniques, and creative outlets such as expressive arts therapy into the traditional talk therapy model. I have experience working with clients of all ages in a variety of settings, including in schools and private practice. I have also worked with adults in both private practice settings and at the university level at an Autism Support Program. As a person-centered therapist, I trust both in the power of the unconditionally accepting therapeutic relationship, and in my client’s capacity to heal and change. I meet my clients where they are and we will go on a journey towards healing together.

I am a compassionate therapist committed to guiding AAPI and BIPOC women through the challenges rooted in cultural values, family conflicts, anxiety, depression, exploring intersectionality, and intergenerational trauma. As a South Asian American, I bring a culturally sensitive approach that fosters a connection with my clients. As a therapist, I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to support individuals in processing and overcoming the impact of traumatic experiences. Trauma is not always the byproduct of significant life altering events but can occur from small events like chronic stress, bullying, discrimination, dysfunctional family dynamics, microaggression, and constant exposure to challenging situations. EMDR involves a structured approach, helping clients identify and reframe/reprocess negative beliefs and emotions associated with past traumas. I also utilize therapeutic frameworks as Humanistic Person-Centered approach, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Strengths Based approach. I will be someone who listens, assists you to identify your goals, and empowers you along the therapeutic process. I will provide you with a non-judgmental, confidential safe space for you to express all you wish to share.

Welcome! My name is "Dr. Ed." I'm a Ph.D.-Diplomate in Clinical Social Work from the University of Houston and Governors State. In our multicultural world, therapy is a safe place to respect your values and honor your strengths! √ I'm 4.6 rated with 60+ reviews on HealthGrades, United Health, Aetna and Cigna. My treatment philosophy is built on respect and appreciation of the dignity for each person I work with. Let me emphasize this one more time, YOU don't have to settle for a poor self-image from negative experiences nor settle with poor relationships with your family, spouse, kids and yourself. Let's figure it out..together.. My therapy specialty is working with adults, couples, families, and pre-teens who are dealing with feelings of rejection, grief, and situation anxiousness-including balancing family and work-life stressors. I greatly appreciate listening to the adult male voice in relationships and families. Learning ways to bridge the gap in communication styles between men and women, parents and children, is important work! Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a core faculty member for nine years at Capella University-graduate and doctoral programs in Social Work and Public Service Leadership. Outside of work, Dr. Ed enjoys traveling to Barbados, Cancun, Houston Rodeo, is active in the KAY fraternity, and is an Astros and Cubs fan. The transition from high school to college can be a struggle for many students, who may experience feelings of anxiety, boundaries, and guilt during this time. Anxiety can manifest itself in a variety of different ways, such as people-pleasing behaviors, fear, perfectionism, and a general feeling of dissatisfaction. College is about boundaries; learning when to say yes and when to say no to both internal and external pressures. Establishing boundaries is important for the well-being of college students so that they don’t feel overwhelmed with stress or anxiety during this time of transition. If you're feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about your next steps, our individual therapy services can help. We'll work with you to develop a plan that addresses the specific challenges you're facing, and provides you with the tools and support you need to succeed.

The clients I see are sometimes in college experiencing feelings of overwhelm or feeling low. These clients describe their challenges as feeling, “como con miedo,” and also, “no se que tengo.” Other clients I see are future counselors who are at the beginning of their careers and facing imposter syndrome ( “I must’ve slipped through the cracks to get to where I am now”), self-criticism (“Why can’t I get my life together!"), or burnout (feeling fatigued and like you can never catch up). These clients are usually part of activist movements or workplaces and I believe in helping the healers that are out in the world making a positive impact on society. I benefited greatly from my own experiences with counseling when I was in grad school (still do) and I hope to provide the same non-judgmental opportunities to cry or laugh or both to future clients. In my work I value humility, curiosity, self-compassion and humor. I believe these are needed to provide authenticity and support at a time when people starting out in their fields of work are taking in new information that is stretching/challenging perspectives and care for the self is a necessity to continue doing challenging work.

Welcome! I work with people who may be struggling with a variety of different challenges from grieving the loss of a pet, struggling with thoughts of the future in a world that seems to be falling apart, and people struggling with gender identity and sexual orientation. I offer an LGBTQ and neurodivergent-affirming environment. While I pull from gold standard techniques such as EMDR, Brainspotting, ACT, DBT, and CBT-I to address a variety of issues and symptoms, I take a collaborative approach to tailor our work together to best fit your needs. I have over ten years of experience in the mental health field both as a researcher and as a psychotherapist. The first five years of my career was spent at the Montrose Center in Houston, Texas where I worked with the LGBTQ community as a psychotherapist and a case manager. This valuable experience urged me to take my career further by going into private practice where I am honored to work with members of the LGBTQ community as well as those outside it.

Psychiatrist

Chicago, IL

Dr. Gonzales takes a personalized, collaborative approach that thoughtfully integrates medication management with evidence-based therapeutic techniques. He believes every patient deserves a safe space — one built on trust and open communication — because lasting change requires feeling safe and genuinely heard. He specializes in treating anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, PTSD, and ADHD across the lifespan — with a particular focus on the unique challenges facing early career professionals, young adults, college students, transitional aged youth, kids and teens. Whether you're seeking psychiatric care for the first time or you've tried other providers and are looking for a better fit, his goal is always the same: to help you grow, develop coping skills that actually work in real life, and build the kind of emotional foundation that holds. Dr. Gonzales believes that mental health care should be readily accessible — because the easier it is to engage in care, the more likely meaningful progress follows. His practice is primarily telehealth-based, removing barriers like commute time, scheduling conflicts, and the hesitation that can come with walking into an office. He currently sees patients virtually across Illinois, Florida, Wisconsin, and Texas. In-person appointments are also available in Chicago, IL for those who prefer them.
