Dr. Sean Paul
Dr. Sean Paul, Psy.D., is a clinical psychologist who specializes in trauma, anxiety, and helping individuals navigate stressful or demanding periods of life. He brings a grounded, real-world understanding of resilience, emotional coping, and the challenges people face during and after difficult or overwhelming experiences. Over time, Dr. Paul’s private practice has expanded to serve individuals who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about their direction in life, not just those in formal high-stress professions. He works with adults navigating anxiety, the impact of past experiences, and major life transitions. He specializes in trauma-related concerns, combining clinical expertise with a practical understanding of how people adapt, cope, and rebuild after difficult events. Dr. Paul’s approach is collaborative and respectful, recognizing that clients are the experts in their own lives. He helps people clarify what matters most to them and take an active role in shaping their therapeutic goals, while providing professional guidance, structure, and steady support. His services include trauma-focused therapy for individuals impacted by difficult or distressing experiences, support for people in high-stress or high-responsibility roles including but not limited to veterans and first responders, treatment for individuals who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or dissatisfied with their current life direction, and collaborative, client-guided treatment planning that aligns therapy with each person’s values and goals.

Many people I work with describe their struggles with self-doubt, persistent worries, irrational fears, and "overthinking" tendencies, saying that they second-guess themselves and struggle to quiet their anxious thoughts. Often, these struggles are a result of past traumatic events that have shaped how the brain perceives the world. Other times, these struggles may trace back to unhelpful messaging from outside sources, which can result in learned behaviors, patterns, and ways of thinking that promote anxiety, worry, and shame. I use modalities such as EMDR, psychodynamic therapy, and CBT to support clients with these struggles. Therapy can support us to uncover and understand the impacts that traumas and other past events have on how we navigate the world. This awareness, coupled with therapeutic interventions, can support us to heal from past hardships and make changes to the learned survival techniques that are no longer serving us. Those who work with me describe me as compassionate, accepting, and interactive in my approach, and I strive to create a comfortable and judgment-free environment for my clients. I offer online scheduling, specialized, evidence-based approaches, and brief, no-cost phone consultations. I encourage you to reach out to see if working together may be a good fit!

Welcome to Clearview Horizons! We are an OCD/anxiety group specialty practice. There are many ways that anxiety shows up for people. The following are some common examples: perfectionism, social anxiety, body dysmorphia, health anxiety, generalized anxiety, panic attacks, trichotillomania, and hoarding. Exposure and ritual prevention is an integral aspect of our therapy. Exposures help clients change their relationship with OCD/anxiety from a fear-based perspective to a place of positive change and empowerment. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) complement the Exposure work. We offer individual therapy and also have a biweekly Adult OCD Support Group. We come to therapy with our struggles. The hope is that we leave them behind, and go forward in life with freedom and joy. I am here to offer counseling and therapeutic support to you as you unburden yourself of limitation, and seek your innate capacity for transformation. My job is to care about you as you learn just how deeply you can care for you, too. To me, therapy is listening deeply – I listen to you. And you listen to yourself, to hear your irreplaceable, undivided, internally original voice. I am inspired always by the incredible power, dignity and strength it shows every time you simply arrive in session. All of my work is embraced with the spirit of mindfulness meditation, of which I have been a devoted student for over 15 years. Mindfulness is simply allowing our thoughts the space to be seen fully, in a non-judgmental way, so that we may see ourselves clearly, with compassion, and choose our course in life with wisdom. I happily look forward to offering you support and guidance through whatever challenge you face right now. Together let’s transform your struggle into strength.

“I want to feel happier and less depressed.” “We would like to improve our relationship.” “I would like to feel calmer and more in control, in spite of the stress, loss and trauma I have experienced.” “We want to help our children cope with our divorce.” “We need to figure out how we are going to live as a divorced family.” These are some of the most frequent goals of my clients as we work together. Many of the stresses and conflicts my clients face can be due to life’s experiences and losses or can come from within. Stress and conflict can lead to disintegration of relationships with our partners and our children, and even in how we view ourselves. Strengthening coping skills, emotional connection and intimacy can help repair fractures, increase compassionate understanding, and build closeness. Focusing on positive growth, shifting well-engrained patterns, and building greater self-acceptance can create lasting change and happiness. As a clinical psychologist with over 40 years of experience, I help adults, couples and families, by integrating many different therapeutic approaches to best fit my clients’ needs.

I consider the relationship between client and therapist one of the most important factors in therapy. As a therapist, my goal is to create a comfortable, non-judgmental space so I can assist others in exploring negative patterns in their lives and help them develop new tools to foster positive coping skills. I utilize a holistic approach to therapy, with special focus on the body and mind and how they interact. As a registered yoga teacher, my treatment approach places emphasis on turning inward and reconnecting with the body to help release stored emotions. I use a trauma-informed approach to life issues with clients and incorporate mindfulness skills, somatic movement, and breathwork into my therapy practice. I specialize in treating anxiety disorders, PTSD, and mood disorders. Additionally, I work with clients who are experiencing grief and loss, life transitions, addiction, caregiver stress, interpersonal/relationship problems, and codependency.

As a therapist, I aim to help my clients achieve and maintain the best version of themselves. My hope is that through the power of the therapeutic relationship, clients are able to be vulnerable, explore their authentic selves, and learn the tools necessary to help them cope with the struggles in their daily lives and relationships. Through the reflection on past experiences and the exploration of present thoughts, behaviors, and emotions, I work to help my clients gain insight and facilitate change in their lives. I offer guidance and expertise addressing an array of issues that impact individuals. These areas include trauma, eating disorders, personality disorders, military, life transitions, families/couples, anxiety, depression, and many others. My primary goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and empathic environment for you to explore, process, heal, and grow.
