Therapists for college students near Atlanta, GA
Hello! I am a certified EMDR counselor for trauma and anxiety. If you're struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, grief/loss, or life transitions, I know how hard it can be to take the next step toward happiness and living authentically. I work with you to provide a safe place to meet your goals and live the life you would if nothing held you back.
I'm Emily, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the Atlanta area. I view therapy as a combination of deep introspection along with more immediate, concrete change. In our work together, we will explore underlying themes, patterns, and narratives, and we will also focus on more immediate skill-building and behavioral change. I lean heavily on General Systems Theory, Narrative Therapy, Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems and other modalities to support you in deeper exploration. Whereas I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Solution-Focused Therapy to assist you in creating more concrete, immediate changes. I work best with clients who are engaged and motivated to learn about themselves; therapy should feel like a conversation. It is my ultimate belief that my clients are the experts of their own lives, and many of my clients would describe my style as down-to-earth, direct, and non-judgmental.

YJC and Wellness is a non-judgmental space for people from all backgrounds who are looking to resolve issues with a little help from a licensed professional.
Hi there! I am a licensed psychologist in Midtown Atlanta. I enjoy helping with anxiety concerns, men's issues/masculinity, relationship and social concerns, and depression, as well as a number of other concerns. I also have extensive experience working with undergraduate and graduate college students. I integrate different approaches, but work mainly using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and relational/interpersonal techniques. Additionally, I specialize in mindfulness-based and self-compassion approaches and the use of mindfulness meditation. My aim in therapy is to create a space of warmth, openness, and support so that we can lean into the difficult areas of your life, work to understand the ways you could grow, and begin to address them. I work actively to help my clients open up to their thoughts and emotions while also helping identify changes they can make to live life more effectively. I am patient, relatable, and flexible in my work, and you'll find that I am a humorous and light-hearted person, too. I also aim to be direct and authentic, giving helpful feedback when appropriate. Check out my website to get a better sense for my practice and the way I work with folks! If you are interested in working with me, please don't hesitate to reach out by phone or email, and we can set up a time for a brief initial consultation.
Intown Psychology provides therapy for children, teens and young adults. We are based in Atlanta and specialize in anxiety disorders, ADHD, and depression. Our team is skilled in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and exposure and response prevention (ERP) among other modalities. Our approach is solution-focused, and we practice from a trauma-informed approach. Intown Psychology is a self-pay practice. The range is between $150–$250. We do not take insurance at this time. However, we can always provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider, which typically goes toward your out-of-network deductible.
It takes courage and self-compassion to embrace vulnerability. As a therapist working with children, adolescents, and young adults, I strive to create a haven of unconditional positive regard that welcomes and values the whole person. My therapeutic approach is rooted in person-centered and attachment-based theories. I emphasize authentic, caring, empathetic, supportive, and collaborative connections. If you're navigating complex and challenging thoughts, feelings, or life experiences, I invite you to continue your journey of exploration and self-discovery with me. Together, we can explore and adjust pathways to develop safe and secure connections with yourself and others. I believe that healing, growth, and change are possible for everyone, both from within ourselves and through experiencing a genuine sense of belonging. Through connection, my hope is to invite and encourage a space for us to explore in depth the underlying challenges that may be causing current pain and stress. I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, specializing in Children's and Adolescent Counseling. I have five years of experience working with children and adolescents in the mental health field, working as a registered behavior technician (RBT) at an ABA clinic, a Family Case Manager at the Indianapolis Department of Child Services, and a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Specialist in an elementary school setting. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, young professionals, and adults experiencing interpersonal intricacies, life transitions, executive functioning difficulties, self-esteem and self-image issues, and multicultural identity exploration and formation. I integrate a variety of theoretical orientations in sessions depending on each person's specific needs, such as narrative therapy, internal family systems, cognitive-behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, and attachment theory. I work under the direct clinical supervision of Drew Phillips, LMFT, and the clinical direction of Meg McLeroy, LMFT.
I support undergraduate and graduate students who feel stuck and are looking to build a life that feels more meaningful, intentional, and authentic. The college years are full of immense pressure and profound changes, and it's completely normal to feel overwhelmed by it all. Many of the students I work with are trying to navigate anxiety, depression, men’s issues, or ADHD in a high-stakes academic environment. Others are dealing with existential distress - asking big questions about their major, their future, and who they are - or trying to manage the massive life transition of living away from home. Sometimes, the coping mechanisms that got you through high school, including maladaptive ones like avoidance or substance use, just aren't as helpful anymore. My approach to therapy is relational and humanistic. While I use evidence-based techniques, I believe the relationship we build is the most important part of the work. I look beyond clinical labels to understand your unique experience. Think of me as a partner on your journey rather than an observer analyzing you from afar. If you’re feeling weighed down, it’s okay if you don't know exactly what to say. You don’t need a perfectly clear story to start therapy. Reach out to see if we’d work well together. If we aren't the right match, I will gladly help connect you with someone else.

When is the last time you intentionally gave yourself (or others) grace? No really… when was the last time? Life comes at us quick and if we’re not careful, we’ll find ourselves struggling with unforgiveness, anger, self-doubt and more; because we allowed the battles we face to win. The truth is, they don’t have to win. We can’t always control what happens to us, but we can learn to control how we respond. We can make the necessary changes to show up in this world in a way that brings us joy and fulfillment. Living Intentionally to Transform (LITT) was created to provide a safe space for YOU to process through life’s troubles. I specialize in working with adolescents, athletes, college students and adults. When serving clients, my approach is simple… come as you are! I strive to always provide a space for clients to just, be. No pressure to act, talk or show up in a certain way. You can expect to be met with respect and understanding at all times and for me to be fully, me. For those who are Christians, you will also find a place to grow in your faith. When seeking a provider, most people desire someone with similar beliefs and/or morals. It’s also important for many to be able to feel a sense of connectivity with the person they are trusting for services. Well, let me share a little about myself. I am a PROUD HBCU graduate from theeeeee Winston Salem State University. I am also a graduate of Georgia State University where I received my Masters in Social Work. Most would describe me as laid back, transparent and silly. My clients would likely say that I’m one that will “keep it real” but also share a good laugh with you when needed. I will challenge you but also support you. I love time with family and have a special place in my heart for athletes as I am a previous athlete and coach myself. Did I mention I love cheesecake? Alright, alright.. enough about me… are you ready? If you are LGBTQ+, polyamorous, kinky, or exploring your identity, it can be exhausting to live in a world that barely tolerates, much less affirms, every part of you. If you feel like you are drowning under the pressure of today’s demands, how are you supposed to find the energy to work on your goals, learn who you are, or take time to enjoy life? You may currently feel alone, unloved, or like you don’t deserve happiness. You might find yourself numb and in emotional pain, wishing people could see and understand your real self. You’re ready to get help, and you want a therapist that specializes in clients like you. I am a gay, transgender clinician dedicated to providing individual therapy to Georgia’s gender, sexuality, and relationship structure minority communities. I am passionate about my community and filling the gap in mental health care many of us experience. My services are also sex-positive, weight-inclusive, neurodiverse-friendly, and culturally-affirming. I offer both in-person and online sessions for your convenience and accessibility. Clients that work with me appreciate positive, gentle masculinity paired with the occasional dad joke. Check out my website for more information about me, or email me to schedule a free 15 minute consultation.

My practice centers neurodivergent, grievers, LGBTQ+ folks, people of color, and anyone who’s ever felt like the “only” in the room. I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up fully as yourself - messy, brilliant, questioning, and human. Using a relational, trauma-informed approach, I work collaboratively to help you explore your experiences, reconnect with your values, and build a life that feels meaningful and grounded. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, burnout, or just trying to figure out who you are, you're not alone - and you don't have to do it alone.

I believe therapy can be a transformative experience, and it requires a lot of courage to take that first step toward healing. As a therapist, I use a warm, interpersonal approach, drawing from attachment theory, internal family systems (IFS), somatics, and DBT. I help clients find purpose and meaning in life, feel a sense of safety in their bodies, and understand their own behavioral and attachment patterns. I enjoy working with young adults struggling with a sense of self and identity, those with personality and mood disorders, the LGBTQIA+ community, and individuals questioning their sexuality and/or gender presentation. I can’t wait to accompany you on this journey.
