Hello my name is Ashley Patel, LSW and I am a psychotherapist with iSeek Counseling. Are you feeling stuck and not sure why? If you are having difficulty managing stressors, making progress towards your goals, or you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious and/or depressed, then I would love to support you in discovering what is blocking you from where you want to be. My clinical focus is working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions and low self-esteem. In my practice, I utilize a strengths-based and psychodynamic therapeutic approach to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself. We will explore unconscious processes in order to build insight into current struggles and problematic patterns of behaviors. I am passionate about providing an open and inclusive environment where you feel comfortable. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship as a catalyst for healing and growth. Through empathetic listening, compassion, and collaborative exploration, I work alongside my clients to uncover underlying issues, gain self-awareness and develop healthier ways to manage life stressors. If you feel that we would work well together, please reach out.

Let's be honest; it's HARD to find a culturally sensitive therapist who understands what it's like to navigate life as a person of color, especially in the state of Colorado. How do you explain your deep love and respect for certain aspects of your culture while at the same time, acknowledge your disdain for the harmful parts of it? How do you sort through the trauma of not having your emotional needs met as a child while still feeling grateful for your parents' best attempts at loving you? How do you process the desire to assimilate into the dominant culture while not wanting to fully abandon important elements of your identity? As a first-generation American born to ethnically Chinese immigrants from Southeast Asia, I understand the joys and frustrations that can come from navigating life between multiple cultures. It is from this lived experience that my passion for supporting others who find themselves in the in-between spaces of their various backgrounds and identities was born. I am especially passionate about supporting other adult children of immigrants, multicultural individuals, transracial adoptees, and BIPOC folks of all cultural backgrounds. I am also Theraplay-trained and offer play therapy to children, with a specific focus on adoptees and little ones who need extra support navigating their big emotions.

Do you feel worried or insecure, overwhelmed or numb? Do you feel scared or anxious about social interactions or events happening in the world? Are you struggling to feel able to navigate transitions and stressors that you are facing in life and school? I want you to know that you are not alone in how you are feeling and that I genuinely believe you can find connection, calm, and confidence through engaging in therapy. I also want you to know that I have faced similar challenges to the ones above and have found great healing through interventions that I offer in my therapy practice. My approach in therapy is to constantly be aware of the "whole picture" that impacts each person (oppressive systems, laws, history, world events, family systems, education systems, and relational interactions) while also focusing on the "here and now" of what you are experiencing. The majority of sessions with me are outdoors, in public parks and on trails, to encourage re-connecting to yourself and to the natural world. I also offer sessions indoors and online when the weather does not allow us to be outdoors safely. I am an active participant in each session, whether I am listening, guiding a mindfulness or experiential activity, or being with you in the emotions and experiences that are coming up. My hope is that through our work together, you will be able to re-connect to yourself, find grounding and a sense of peace by connecting to nature, and learn concrete tools and practices that help make navigating daily life more manageable. I recognize that this work can be difficult, takes time, and does not have a clear map. I believe in walking through the journey together, wherever it may lead, with curiosity and empathy along the way.

The journey to find your true self looks different for each individual and it is my goal to join you specifically where you are and walk alongside you as you find your way to where you’d like to be. I work in both private practice counseling and neurofeedback having experience working with clients suffering from anxiety, depression, relationship problems, sleep issues, eating disorders, learning disabilities, self-exploration, and much more. It is the most incredible feeling to join the process of somebody finding themselves and understanding that they have the power to make positive and lasting changes in their lives. With an empowering & non-judgmental approach I utilize CBT & SFT with skills including motivational interviewing, mindfulness, & Adlerian therapy. In addition, I can incorporate neurofeedback which is a technology that maps a client’s brain & discovers dysregulation. We can then address specific brain-based causes for many emotional and behavioral issues. My mission is to create a collaborative, holistic, and healthy therapeutic relationship individualized for you. I am honored to be in the position to see growth and change in people as they take steps to improve their lives. Please call for a free 15 minutes consultation to see if we would be a good match.

Hi there! I work with people who come to therapy for all sorts of reasons, but often because they want to feel better about who they are. Maybe you feel alone or like you're not sure where you're going in life, or your family isn't what you wish it was. As a a therapist, I like to help people look beneath the surface, beyond the symptoms, and understand what’s really going on. Why *do* you get anxious? Why does it feel like something’s missing? Maybe you know what you should do, but you just can’t seem to bring yourself to do it. Getting a better understanding of how your life has shaped who you are today can help make some of those things feel less confusing—and sometimes make change feel a little more possible. I have a particular soft spot for working with people who feel alone or different in some kind of way. While I may or may not have lived through the same things, I work hard to make therapy feel like a place where you can share those parts of yourself and maybe feel a little less alone. Before going into therapy, I spent over a decade working in tech, doing data analytics and software engineering at both big corporations and startups. This gives me a unique perspective on what post-college life might look like, as well as an appreciation for some of the challenges tech poses for people just starting their careers.

Prior to private practice, I worked in college counseling for three years. My style as a therapist is to provide much warmth, curiosity, compassion, and humor to help each client engage in a productive way of understanding themselves and their mental functioning. I take a holistic approach that encompasses the mind and the body. Although I work with many presenting concerns, I have noticed a commonality of how people are self-critical and subsequently experience declines in their mental health and relationships. I work with each client to develop self-awareness and coping skills to help decrease their mental health distress.

Your struggles do not have to define who you are or determine the quality of your life. I am a licensed professional counselor and since 2003, I have helped individual adults address trauma, anxiety and depression. Through a tailor-made treatment plan, we break down the process into manageable steps. Together, we will tackle what is robbing you of contentment and vitality. I also help people explore their sexual orientation and gender identities. The goal is to help you find self-acceptance, resiliency, and an opportunity to celebrate sexual and gender diversity. I utilize approaches like EMDR, Gestalt Therapy, DBT, and mindfulness practices to deliver evidence-based, experiential treatment In time, the commitment and work we do will be an immeasurable gift that will have long reaching impacts you may not even know are possible.
