Monte Vista, CO

Hi, I am Heather. I work with clients who feel ready to explore challenges that may be affecting their emotional well-being, relationships, or daily life. I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief, attachment concerns, family conflict, and life transitions. I also support individuals and families navigating the unique stressors associated with the judicial system. Together, we focus on building insight, strengthening coping skills, improving relationships, and creating meaningful, lasting change. My approach is eclectic and individualized, recognizing that no single method works for everyone. I integrate Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), attachment-based interventions, and other evidence based approaches to meet each client's unique needs. You have already taken an important step by looking for support. I believe healing happens through connection, understanding, and practical change. Together, we will gather an understanding of what limitations and concerns you have surrounding the therapeutic process and work together to build the connection for a positive therapeutic experience.

About My Clients My clients bring their strengths, lived experiences, and wisdom to our therapy sessions every day. They bring resilience from the traumatic experiences they face and many of my clients bring and/or discuss the ways relationships impact their day to day lives. My Approach to Helping As a social worker, marriage and family therapist in training, and educator I value and center the wisdom that clients bring into the therapeutic conversation. My values also lie heavily in centering and validating the experiences of my clients from an inclusive perspective. My goal is to balance trusting the client to make the best decisions for themselves and create space for collaboration in the therapeutic process. Whether it is Individual, Couples Therapy, or Family Therapy, I believe that therapeutic interventions are tools that support the relationships, not replace them! Being a woman of color in the field of mental health guides and builds empathy in my work. I believe in creating a comfortable and supportive environment that encourages trust-building and playfulness when appropriate. I approach my work through meeting my clients where they are and creating customized clinical experiences based on the needs of my clients.

If you are looking to be fixed, you have come to the wrong place. You are a human being longing to be seen and heard, not a problem to be solved. As a queer, Asian (Filipinx) immigrant, I understand the importance of community, advocacy, and finding your voice. Together, we can work to bring awareness to the harmful messages we have come to internalize and the systems of oppression that inform the ways in which we take up space. If you are seeking justice & compassion for inner child you, as well as meaning and belonging for present you - I eagerly invite and welcome you in. I specialize in working with QTBIPOC+ college students, adults, and couples on issues of Intersectionality, Identity, Intergenerational Trauma, Social Justice, Interpersonal Skills, and Self-Compassion Work, among others. Human connection is everything - let's make room for your lived experiences, hopes, and dreams; your mere existence is an act of rebellion When working with me, I want you to feel like you have complete ownership of your personal narrative. I believe that there is so much power to be found within the therapeutic relationship. When there is mutual trust, respect, and authenticity in the room, we can start to effect healing. I see you for all that you are, and all that you still hope to be.

Spring EOP

Treatment program
In-Person & Online
Colorado Springs, CO

Spring EOP is here for any step of recovery, whether or not you have been to treatment. We aim to bridge the gap between leaving treatment and the transition back to life. For individuals who need to work, attend school, and have ongoing family obligations, the limited time outpatient therapy provides may not be enough to sufficiently support the investment that’s been made in residential treatment with the continued journey of sobriety. Many clients who have experienced residential treatment find that there is a greater need for clinical support beyond one session weekly; at Spring EOP we are here to support this transition with continued, consistent care. Additionally, we understand not everyone is ready for treatment, a client does not have to be transitioning out of a higher level of care to be an ideal client for us. We are there for every step of the recovery. We offer support to loved ones through CRAFT group as well as therapy for couples, family, and loved ones. We accept ages 15 and up.

I believe all human beings want to be seen, understood, and accepted. As a therapist, I offer a warm, safe, and patient space for such an experience. We all need someone to empower, validate, and actively listen to us in an empathic way, which is what I strive to do. With over a decade of clinical experience, my therapeutic approach is deeply rooted in helping individuals foster self-reflection and emotional expression. I guide clients through life transitions and help them process a diverse range of emotions, thoughts, traumas, and complex relationships that may cause distress. For instance, I assist clients in processing feelings such as worry, shame, guilt, fear, and sadness, while also facilitating acceptance, trust, hope, forgiveness, accountability, and a sense of enoughness. My practice is also trauma-informed, ensuring that the impacts of past traumas are validated and that safety and trust are established during the healing process. With an eclectic therapeutic approach, I tailor my services to each person's unique needs, employing three main modalities: Emotion Focused/ Psychodynamic Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, & Mindfulness-based/Somatic-based Therapy. Please visit the Frequently Asked Questions section for additional details about these modalities. My approach is centered around helping clients develop self-esteem, authenticity, and emotional regulation skills through building a compassionate presence and mindful awareness. We focus on the present, while integrating the past and being courageously hopeful for the future, even if uncertain. Utilizing the virtual therapy platform Doxy, I provide accessible and convenient care without compromising quality. I am also the author of the books and guided journals: 12 Ways to Cope With Your Latina Mom & Her Difficulties and 12 Ways to Cope With Your Latino Dad & His Difficulties, available on amazon or through direct purchase. Outside of therapy, my interest includes yoga, meditation, and cooking!
