Marriage & Family Therapist
In-Person & Online
Los Angeles, CA

I'm Will Michelson, a licensed therapist (LMFT) practicing in West Los Angeles and online across California. My work is depth oriented psychotherapy, which means we don't stop at managing symptoms. We work to understand what drives them, so the change you make actually holds. College and the years around it ask a lot. Anxiety that won't settle, a low mood that flattens everything, grief, loneliness, questions about identity, direction, and who you are becoming. These are not failures of character. Often they are signals pointing toward something that needs attention, and therapy is where you learn to listen. Sessions are 45 minutes, usually weekly, in person at my West LA office near the Sawtelle and Brentwood border or by secure video from anywhere in California. That flexibility suits student life. Many clients meet online during the term and continue without interruption through breaks, moves, and summers. I bring over a decade of clinical experience, drawing on psychodynamic and relational depth work. I also trained theologically at Fuller Seminary, so if faith or spiritual questions are part of your life, there is room for them here, belief and doubt alike. You do not need to be religious to work with me. The first step is a free 15 minute consultation. It is a conversation, not a commitment.

Core Therapy

Group practice
Online
Monrovia, CA

Core Therapy was founded in 2020 with a simple belief: quality mental health care should be accessible, compassionate, and designed to meet people where they are. What began as a virtual response to a growing need for mental health support has evolved into a diverse team of compassionate clinicians serving individuals, couples, families, and children throughout California. Our practice is rooted in client-centered, culturally responsive care. We recognize that every person comes to therapy with different experiences, identities, challenges, and goals. Our clinicians work to create a supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives. As a fully virtual practice, we aim to make connecting with the right therapist easier and more convenient—bringing quality care directly to you, wherever you feel most comfortable. At Core Therapy, our goal goes beyond providing therapy. We strive to reduce barriers, challenge the stigma surrounding mental health, and make therapy feel more human, approachable, and connected.

Sometimes Life Feels Harder Than It Should You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or unsure of what comes next as you navigate life’s challenges, relationships, family, work, or all of your responsibilities. Life may look fine from the outside, so no one really knows how much you’re struggling. But internally, you sometimes wonder if you’ll ever figure it all out, achieve the things you want for yourself, or get to a place where you genuinely feel happy and fulfilled. Perhaps you keep finding yourself in the same relationship patterns, struggling to communicate how you truly feel, questioning your decisions, or being hard on yourself. Maybe thoughts or experiences from the past still come up and keep you awake at night. Or all of your stressors and responsibilities play on repeat in your mind. You try to push past them and move forward, but somehow they keep resurfacing. Whatever you’re navigating, you don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin therapy. Sometimes you just need a space to slow down, understand what you’re feeling, and have someone help you navigate what comes next. At Inward Healing Therapy, we recognize that who you are and what you’ve experienced cannot be separated from the culture, family, relationships, and communities that have shaped you. Our therapists provide culturally affirming care that honors the identities, values, traditions, and lived experiences that are important to you. Rather than making assumptions about what healing or growth should look like, we work to understand what those things mean for you. Depending on what brings you to therapy, our work may include: - Understanding and managing anxiety, stress, and overwhelming emotions - Building confidence, self-esteem, and a stronger sense of self - Understanding anxious attachment and changing relationship patterns that leave you feeling insecure, stuck, or disconnected - Exploring how family, culture, and emotionally immature or unavailable parents may have shaped the way you see yourself and your relationships - Healing childhood and attachment wounds, trauma, PTSD, and painful relationship experiences - Recovering from narcissistic abuse and rebuilding trust in yourself - Strengthening communication, connection, and emotional security within couples - Developing practical tools to navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence Our therapists draw from evidence-based and trauma-informed modalities including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Psychodynamic Therapy, CBT, DBT, ACT, Inner Child Work, attachment-based, multicultural, and relational approaches, tailoring therapy to your needs, experiences, and goals.

*Accepting New Clients Online Throughout CA* Figuring out who you are and what you want can feel complicated when you’re surrounded by expectations from the people and world around you. You find yourself overthinking your decisions, putting pressure on yourself to get things right, or worrying about disappointing those closest to you. You may find yourself doomscrolling to disconnect, comparing yourself to others, losing sleep, or taking your stress out on people you care about. Or perhaps painful experiences from childhood or in relationships have left you questioning yourself, feeling anxious, or struggling with the belief that you’re not good enough. In our work together, I provide a space away from all the outside noise where you can slow down to better understand yourself and what you need. We can explore how your environment, past experiences, relationships, and social settings have shaped the way you feel about yourself, the decisions you make, and how you show up in relationships today. Together, we can work through past painful experiences and heal the unhelpful relationship patterns that stem from them. We can build healthier relationships and develop greater clarity about who you are and what you want, so you can move through life with more confidence and self-compassion. Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially when you’re used to figuring things out on your own. You don’t have to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say. We’ll build trust over time, take things at your pace, and you’ll never be pushed to share something you’re not ready for. I’d be honored to support you and look forward to connecting with you. Experience: Rhea (pronounced: ree-uh) Chowdhary was born in the Bay Area and grew up in Ohio. She attended Ohio State University and earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She later returned to California, where she earned her Master of Science in Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from CSU, Fullerton. Throughout her clinical experience, Rhea has worked with adolescents and adults navigating family conflict, relational trauma, attachment wounds, emotional neglect, and the ways these experiences can impact self-esteem, emotional regulation, and relationships. Her approach is trauma-informed and person-centered, with an emphasis on creating a safe, trusting, and supportive relationship where clients can feel comfortable exploring their experiences and working toward meaningful change. More Than Just My Work In my free time, I enjoy baking sweet treats, taking dance classes, watching TV shows/movies, going to concerts, and doing yoga. Fun fact: I’m really into football, and I’m a fan of the San Francisco 49ers.

I offer sessions in English and Spanish. My approach is rooted in the belief that food is medicine. I don't label foods as "good" or "bad," because those labels lead to shame and guilt. Have you ever felt like managing your health is a full-time job—especially when you’re juggling a million other things? Between conflicting nutrition advice, ever-changing health goals, and just getting dinner on the table, it’s a lot. I get it—because I’ve been there too. I’m Jessica, a Registered Dietitian, mom of two, and someone who’s been offering nutrition counseling since 2007. My interest in nutrition started in high school when I struggled with binge eating, diet culture, and a difficult relationship with my body. Over the years, my personal experiences—living with ADHD, navigating thyroid and autoimmune conditions, and managing preeclampsia and high blood sugar during pregnancy—have only deepened my empathy and shaped the way I support others. I specialize in helping people simplify food—whether that’s meal planning, grocery shopping, or creating sustainable routines that support your health without taking over your life. I’ve worked across private practice, public health, behavioral health, fitness resorts, and food service programs—but what I love most is working one-on-one with clients to find practical, personalized strategies that actually stick. These days, I work with people managing conditions like prediabetes, PCOS, gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol—especially those who feel overwhelmed by diet trends or unsure how to start. I offer neurodivergent-affirming care and have a special passion for supporting fellow ADHDers in developing realistic nutrition routines that meet them where they are. If you’re looking for an approach grounded in intuitive eating, weight-inclusive care, and compassion, you’re in the right place. I believe food should be a source of nourishment—not stress—and that everyone deserves to feel good in their body without chasing unrealistic ideals. With a focus on intuitive eating, my goal is to help clients build peace with food and their bodies, steering them away from the frustrations of yo-yo dieting and food-related mental struggles. I’m committed to guiding clients toward healthier, sustainable habits that allow them to enjoy food and meet their health goals. More about me: I love spending time with family and exploring new things that give a fun, dopamine-kick; be it starting a garden, playing a new sport, painting, thrifting, etc. When I’m not working, I’m chasing my two high-energy kids, experimenting in the kitchen or reading fantasy books on my kindle! What to expect: Sessions are collaborative, judgment-free, and tailored to your real life. You’ll leave with a plan that feels doable—even on the busiest days. Ready to start? Book a visit directly at https://diabetesdigital.co/start.

I work with adults (age 18 and older) on a variety of mental health concerns, such as trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, acculturation and cultural identity, and career uncertainty/transition. My experience in multiple mental health settings, from community mental health, university counseling centers, and Kaiser Permanente, has provided me with the skills to work with people from diverse backgrounds and presenting concerns. As a first generation immigrant from South-East Asia, I would be able to use my background to empathize with and help minority clients who experience challenges of navigating being a first-generation college student, cultural identity concerns, or racial/cultural insensitivities. My previous profession in software engineering may also help some clients going into the technology field feel connected and understood. I have been trained in insight-oriented (psychodynamic) and cognitive-behavioral (CBT) forms of therapy. I am also a certified clinical trauma professional. My practice aims to help clients develop tools to make the necessary change(s) in their lives. I collaborate with my clients to understand their needs and set goals they want to achieve. My interactions and interventions with my clients are wrapped in cultural consideration, validation, regard, and acceptance of who they are.

My approach to therapy is collaborative, non-judgmental, and action-oriented. I practice evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). CBT focuses on changing problematic thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT provides skills for regulating emotions and behaviors and improving relationships. Cultivating compassion can help you learn to face the challenges in your life with courage, wisdom, and kindness. I can help you improve well-being and life satisfaction and establish more compassionate relationships with yourself and others. In therapy together, I will listen closely and without judgment, helping you to uncover and pursue what you value most.
